Each Bike has a sweet spot. You have found yours. At least for the setup that you had the CDI installed onto. If you have changed the setup then yes you will need to re-time the bike.
THe bike that got the CDI I supervised the install at Adus. And just by listening to the engien knew the timing was right.
My only advise to you if you think you can get your bike to run any better without the RDD CDI you are sadlly mistaken. Any setup. Any configuration the benefits from the CDI can not be ignored.

Yes Im not intrested in anything other than issues related to the RDD CDI. Lets be clear about that.
THe 5 speed barrel conversion works. Speak to Vampire he had the same done.
As have many many other 4 speed owners.
Follow Vampires posts. Follow posts of Bikelover, Rash etc all who run 5 speed barrels and the RDD CDI.
Others reading this post please get the false notion that 24 deg is some magical number that every bike needs. Dont get greedy. You install the CDI. TOp speed goes up. RPM GOes up in each gear, Mileage goes up, Engine runs cooler then be happy.
yes Mr Chinoy, you helped me in setting up the CDI at Addu's shop...i was using the 90/100w Nippon electrical kit & all the flywheel it came along with..u had brought your timing gun & checked, there were some issues with the readings..
with whatever set up i was running from the moment i left Addus shop it was running like a dream, as i have told in my RDD CDI feedback
after that i just changed it to external pulsar coil with exactly the same position as internal pulsar coil..there was absloutely no change in performance...i had told you also that i will be setting up an external pulsar.. why did i setup up external pulsar ?..it is easy to move around the pulsar coil & adjust the timing.... just to be sure that i set the max advance timing to 24 degrees at 3000 rpm.... with this setup there was no change in performance.. still running like a dream... i used the same setup to drive 300+ kms..
ya, it was my understanding which i had built up reading earlier posts that the timing had to be set to 24degrees advance to get the best performance for the CDI...
thats the exact reason why my bike was not running on RDD CDI, b'cas i wanted somebody to set the timing & then plug in the RDD CDI.... i had dropped a new RX 100 HT coil which was to be connected..
ya 5-speed barrel works , i picked up the info from vampire post only & this crap abt 5-speed gear box is a shit... infact vampire changed his sprockets to 5-speed sprocket & it was working like a dream.. even he was getting locked at 100kmph when he was using 4speed sprockets...
all these changes were requested..
any way i have still not have given up on my RX project... let me take a break & then do neccessary changes...
i am not a guy who beats around the bush...infact i was one of the first few guys who posted actual figures of emission test with RDD CDI on... & clearly highlighted starting problem...
i have told earlier in all my posts & tell it now also RDD CDI has been the best investment on my bike so far...
for me INTEGRITY comes before TALENT...
